Features & Tools

Symbio is an easy to use collaborative platform where different teams can collaborate and share information with each other in real time to deliver the best care to a patient. With several defined user roles, and the ability to create custom user roles for organizations like the hospitals and EMS, Symbio is extremely flexible and user friendly.

Collaborative Platform

  • Interactive Hospital Portal

The interactive Hospital Portal enables the hospitals to keep track of all the incoming patients along with the details of their medical conditions, vital stats, demography and estimated time of arrival.

GPS Enabled Services

  • Navigation to Hospitals and Care Centers

Using the Hospital Directory Symbio users can create and store Hospital Contact information or connect with any online hospital directory. Users can also store 211 services center information and operational data. This makes the transport of the patient to the nearest hospital/care organization easier.

  • Estimated Time of Arrival

The estimated time of arrival(ETA) is crucial while transporting patients with critical conditions. The Hospital dashboard is built in with an alert and clock that displays the Expected time of arrival of the incoming patients along with their condition. It helps the staff prepare in time.

  • AI-Powered Re-Route Function

The re-route functionality of Symbio filters and displays only the hospitals that provide the service required to treat the patient, and real-time data on locations that have the beds available at that time. This ensures that a patient can be treated in a timely fashion and there is not a need for another transport.

Patient Data

  • Patient Demographic Data

Patient Demographic Data includes the information of the patient, such as their name, age, gender, contact information, address, medical history. The information helps care providers make more informed decisions while treating the patient.

  • EHR Integration

Symbio easily integrates with most EHR. It helps in the continuum of care once the patient is transferred to the Hospital or a care center where treatment is being provided.

  • Event Based Reporting

A new case channel is created for each patient encounter and all event related data are stored along with timestamps. All historical records for each encounter is available for reference along with the timestamps of events and actions.

  • ePCR (NEMSIS Reporting)

NEMSIS is a National effort to standardize the way EMS organizations collect data. Symbio has the universal standard patient care information that is based on State and federal law. Symbio collects and stores all mandatory and required fields for EMS so that reports can be run as required.

Behavioral Health

  • Behavioral Health

Special attention to Behavioral Health Conditions is one of the key features of Symbio. Patient’s mental health conditions can be assessed using the protocols for social determinants of health and thereafter the patient can be referred to the local provider of housing services through 211 database. In case the patient has been previously encountered by Symbio, the system will alert the user about the patient’s condition and refer to the appropriate services provider and within 24 hours the service provider uses the Symbio web portal to close the loop with an acknowledgement.

Communication

  • Real Time Communication

All communication within Symbio is real time. The EMS team can communicate with the Hospital through 2-way chat within the application. The hospital can get live updates of the patient's health condition, vitals, demography, drugs administered, etc.

  • Images/ Audio and Video Recordings

The EMS team can record and share Images, video, and audio of the patients, medical condition, and treatment with the hospital in real time. It helps the care providers assess the patients better even before they reach the care center. The images of EKG, Burns and any other medical document like reports or prescription can be uploaded and stored in symbio for future references.

  • Dispatch

Symbio records the dispatch reason, triage, and timestamped sequence of events through a patient’s journey. Organizations can evaluate and accurately reconcile the dispatch workflow between expected and actual events, and provide reports for the events and resources used.

Ease of Use

  • Customizable Workflows

Symbio users are not restricted to fixed workflows that need to be followed inorder to use the software. Symbio is flexible and the workflow is customizable, so the users do not need to adapt to the software to perform their operations. Symbio acts as a tool that increases the efficiency of the care team.

  • ALS/BLS Protocols

The platform can be configured to provide the various federal or local ALS/BLS protocols for different cases. Availability of these documents on their fingertips come in handy while providing urgent treatment to patients.
